Cork Oak

a cork oak that I have had for a long time. It was recently re-styled and requires some refinement. Hank

Do you have any more pictures from other angles? That might help...

Hi Hank,

I couldn't help fiddling around with your tree a bit. The backdrop you are using is perfect for it. I like your tree as is it though. It will look great when the foliage fills out some more.

regards, René

Rene, thanks for the very nice virtual. That is pretty much what I had in mind. Hopefully it should take a growing season for it to fill out.

Do you think this is too traditional?

Working with Rene's virtual...

By the way, I think I see an interesting possibility using the main branch on the left as a new apex. part of it would be turned up. It's a little hard to tell, but i think the front in that concept would be on the opposite side of Post #1, looking up a bit at the tree (so the tree would be tipped back some), but it could probably work with the front used in post #1, too.

Regards,

Matt

Matt, thanks for the vitual and the suggestion. I think ultimately one should aim for something along these lines. For my taste the problem now is that the branches are too thin and immature looking. For this reason I would prefer to let the tree fill out as in Rene's virtual. In 5-10 years one can easily thin the foilage to something like you have suggested.

With regard to your suggestion about using the lower branch, the present upper part of the trunk is the previous lower branch. A year or so ago I decided to shorten the tree. This is one of the reasons the upper branch stucture is so thin. Hank
