cork oak

After figuring out how to start oak seeds we started growing cork oaks. This particular tree was thrown away by its owner because it was so root bound that you could not get water into the can.

The first cut was made about one inch below the soil line and a good three inches in diameter. Now six years later it measures over four inches at the soil line. This tree should never have survived the original root cut, but it has decided to stay and live.
