Re: Cork Bark Chinese Elm

Here are the photos of my chinese Cork Bark Elm. I unfortunately do not have photos before I cut off the second trunk. Sorry. The before picture is straight after I have pruned it back hard and removed the second trunk.
The after picture is a year later after wiring/pruning and just as it is coming into leaf.
As you can see it threw out alot of new growth. Alot of it I had to remove. This tree is no where near its final shape. The branches need developing further both in shape and twiginess. I just thought you might get an idea for yours.

Good luck

Ant, thanks for showing your Elm. I can see the merits of the trunk chop/airlayer possibilities. My tree is presently coming into leaf. When it is fully leafed I will post a picture, and if I decide to do the dead, I will post a series on that.....Be brave, I tell myself, but I am going slowly with the decision.

Jules....Thanks for your input! I have not yet decided to 'do the dead', so the tree has received a bit of trimming and a little wire. Oh, am I bad at wire! I know ...practice ..practice ..practice. If I do not layer it soon I will post a pix of it in leaf. Thanks all again!
