Contest Tree Update
Hello Everyone,
Here's an update on the boxwood from the spring contest. It's starting to fill in with smaller leaves. Does anyone else have updates to share? David

Mine? Mine didn't survive three weeks in the care of a house-sitter. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't win, because I'd feel awfully guilty winning with a dead tree. On the positive side, that was one of only three losses from my extended July trip, so things could have gone a lot worse!

Don't feel bad OMC! I think mine is dead as well, also from an extended vacation where I lost a lot of trees d/t 104 heat wave. Some of them revived but the quince looks like it's the middle of December instead of August!
![]() PS: The boxwood is a very nice bonsai! I'm happy for you! Maybe we should have chosen the winner on tree longevity too! How are other entries doing?

No, a well-kept secret is that we get no more rain here in the summer than you do there in California. In fact, the lawns and hills are now all brown here, just as they are there in California, because it hasn't rained at all since I think mid-May. This summer has been particularly bad, and many of the full-sized trees in people's lawns are dying as well if not watered regularly. Cheers, Carl

My entry is doing good. After the contest finished, my tree decided to have another growth spurt. I have had new compact growth nearly all over. If the same happens next year (ie two growth periods) it will fill out very nicely. Good to see yours is doing fine Bonitah. sorry to hear about yours, OMC and Lesley Regards, TB
