bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Well, I tried to pot a couple of them, but I've had nothing but trouble with azaleas I've dug out of my yard. They all died. Part of the problem, I think, is that they were pretty old plants and I wasn't able to free the roots sufficiently from the soil to get them properly potted.

So the only azalea I'm currently growing as a bonsai is a small one I got at a club raffle.

I think you're right. Thinking about it, because of the way they root, trying to lift old and established azaleas would be extremely difficult if they weren't root trained first. Still, it was worth a go. You got a nice ligustrum out of it.
