Collected Wild Olive

An old collected wild olive - it is not a tanuki. The only live part is on the left hand side of the trunk.

Lovely tree. Don't know about the pot though.

Great start! A super training pot. If it were mine I would define the branching and wire (carefully-easy scarring) down to horizontal layers. Always trim just beyond horizontal leaf pairs to continue ramifaction.

Thanks for the comments. Although I usually collect larger trees every once in awhile I find a nice small specimen. Here is a small olive I collected a few years ago. It hasn't been styled - just cut back.

I like that last one. I would like to see it again when you've styled it.

Treenut, it is a very nice material. With a bit of carving and a bit of time it should make a very good bonsai. What are your plans for this olive?
