collected juniper

This is a Juniper horizontalis that I collected last year. I started to working on the dead wood but it is really not healthy enough to do any major work on it yet. The spruce cuttings you see around the base is used for squirrel control,it keeps them from digging. It works!!

Re: collected juniper

hi....looking at this tree I think it would look better if you bent the upper section down more. To me it wants to be bent so as to lower the apex by 10-15%. I can not tell the scale for inches. Does this go along with what you see for this tree?

Re: collected juniper

Hi Jay,
I see a windswept in this tree.Out in the desert striving to stay alive.I would like to find a small sand blaster and try and sand blast the dead wood. Never seen it done before but I am going to try it. But as for this tree I see a definite windswept.

Re: collected juniper

I think that you should remove a little bit of that deadwood. There seems to be a little too much. Other than that the tree would look really good as a windswept style, cause I hardly see another possible stlye.
