Collected hemlock

Thought I'd share a project I have had in the works for the last 5 or 6 years.
The tree is a collected tsuga canadensis ,an eastern hemlock. It has a disadvantage in the root structure in that the roots grew in a pad above the tree mass. Here is a pic of the tree before wiring six years after collection.
The second pic is after major wiring some fine wiring still to be done and the third pic is of the right side. What ya think?.
Regards

Ah ha !!!! You caught me !! I think it adds a lot to the overall composition don't you? I expect to pot it up in it's first pot this spring and I'm thinking about a scoop or some sort of original cement container/ Any ideas would be appreciated. Any virtual takers out there?
Regards

Hi Jemmick.

What about this one?
This is one of Dale Cochoy's pots.
I am still looking for a scoop that will fit your tree, think it's going to be difficult with that trunk sticking out like that at the base of the tree,,or is there space between the pot and the trunk??

Question

Patrick,
I did try this one after taking a pic of the tree from a slightly different angle. Of course the tree is relatively large and I think I will have the stand made of welded angle iron and painted black so it will support the weight. See what you think of this

Looks nice but,,,
think it's going to be very difficult to fit the tree in a pot like the one in your virtual.
(that's why i have diffuculties finding a good scoop for this one,i am still looking)
What are you going to do with the rootball?? dont know how the roots look but i think you will need more space to keep this fine looking tree healty!
Think you will end up with a pot size like the one in my virtual.

Patrick,
Actually the root pad is a very thin matt occupying only a small space in the container. I used the present containter as that was all I had at the time. The root mat is out lined on this pic.
