And the last one, a japanese maple. I think uploading files in the new forum is MUCH easier than in the old forum. Hope you enjoyed the pictures.

I did enjoy them - thanks for posting. I especially liked the fuchsia, crabapple, and yew-with-really-impressive-deadwood. Fuchsia - I'm starting one (F. microphylla - "Hardy Fuchsia"); nice to see others' work with them. Crab - anything flowering...Fruiting is even better 'cause it means at least TWO major seasons (maybe more, depending on species). Yew...Well - that deadwood IS impressive...and I'm not a big deadwood fan. <Ducking quick to avoid the 'incoming'
> (Everybody's entitled to their own favorites, now... )

I enjoyed them as well.
I especially like the "yew with impressive deadwood" at first glance it reminded me of an eagles wing. It is a very powerful image.
Thanks for sharing, JP

Hi Anita,
Thanks for the reply. I know there are people that like deadwood and there are others that don't. Each his/hers own taste, no problem. The deadwood on this particular yew was very well made. I should have taken a close-up picture. The fuchsia was not very impressive as a bonsai but I think the flowers made up for that. Same goes for the apple. All in all I think the trees were worth taking photographs. I'm glad you liked my pictures. best regards, René |

Hi René,
The juniper with the filename leden10 caught my eye. Any idea how long in training for this one? Regards, Chris.

Hi Chris,
Believe it or not, this is a yamadori. Appearantly not all yamadoris are huge.... It was styled only recently. The base and movement of this little tree are amazing. There is even a small natural shari on the trunk. The tree is only about 10 cm high. I do think it will be a while before it will fit in a pot of the right size but it will be well worth the wait. JPortock, The deadwood on this yew was very skillfully made. You cannot see it very well from this angle but the trunk is almost completely hollow. regards, René Last edited by Rene_Voortwist : 29-Sep-2004 at 04:32 PM. |

Rene - have you seen forum member fbonsailady's fuchsia bonsai (go look in the Members Bonsai Pictures Gallery)? They are excellent examples of fuchsia as bonsai. I am not ready to publicly critique others' bonsai very much yet...(a) my own inexperience - I need to learn more 1st. (b) Fair is fair - I have to post some pictures of mine, too, so... (c) I gotta either get a digi or get some of my film scanned. Every time I start looking at a digital camera... I get distracted --> Nice pot! Oh! Look at that TREE!!
Still no camera. Getting a nice collection of pots and potensai, though. A few even qualify as bonsai. ![]()
