Chinese Elm -- Semi Cascade
This is a semi cascade ch. elm that i've been working on for five years. When I bought it, it wasn't cascading at all. All it was, was a $25 reject that I thought might have a future. I think it still needs to develop more on the bottom branches, and maybe a better pot.

Re: Chinese Elm -- Semi Cascade
Thomas, It looks really good. You've done a good job. The picture is a little dark so it's kinda hard to see the pot.

It's a very nice tree. Have you ever thought of transforming it into a semi-cascade, or slanting style by cutting off the lower branch that defines it as a cascade? ![]()

Re: Chinese Elm -- Semi Cascade
I know the picture is kind of dark and therefore the pot is hard to see, but if you look closer you will notice that the branch that is cascading down, doesn't fall below the bottom of the pot, which makes it a semi cascading style. It would be considered a cascading tree if it went below the pot. I,ve since repotted it in a taller pot which will easily identify it as a semi cascading tree. If I can get a good picture, I'll post it.

Re: Chinese Elm -- Semi Cascade
Hi Thomas,
I like what you did with the crown. Looks MUCH better ! My personal opinion is that it would look even better without the cascade branch. It would make a very good looking shohin. Here's a quick and dirty virtual I've made. This is just my personal 2cents of course. regards, René ![]() |

Re: Chinese Elm -- Semi Cascade
I have to agree, it looks nice semi-cascade, but even better without the cascade branch.
Really really nice ![]() |
