Chinese Elm--Looking Chinese

Here's a chinese elm that I completely restyled last year into the more chinese looking version. The difference between this photo and the next, is like night and day.

Re: Chinese Elm--Looking Chinese

I'd have to agree with Mansour that the original had a certain something. It looks like equal parts grace & mystery.

I'll be curious how it develops with the new front. I think if I were to work on it, I would have reduced the height a bit and cleaned up the crossing roots, maybe touch up the branch on the right just a little as in the attached pic.

I will be curious to follow how it develops with the new front. I know a radical change like that can take some time to come into its own.

Regards,

Matt

Re: Chinese Elm--Looking Chinese

The way it looked before pruning and triming, it looked way better.

Old front was better

I prefer the older front - not sure exactly why, but I think it might be based on higher exposure of the trunk itself.

I really like the pruning job you did on this tree; it immediately made the trunk look massive in proportion. It almost looks like this African Baobab (Adansonia digitata), one of my favorite trees. Thanks for the pictures.

All the best,
JDL
