cedar forest

A little forest that I did last week. I added the two larger trees this year. You can tell by the color of the tops. Fresh Jin!

Re: cedar forest

Nice group!
Could you post a bigger pic of the single tree on left?
I like it even more than the forest.
By the way, what's that "just my two cents" -thing?

Thank you,
Ossi Hanhinen

Al,

I like your forest, and the tables, and the accent bonsai and and... Can you explain why you "jinned" the two largest trees ? ( I like it, just curious..)

Looks great! I like the whole set up with the accent plant and all. Love the stands, too.

Re: cedar forest

I really like your group, love the jin on the two larger trees.

I hope you dont mind but i have just tilted the smaller side trees as if they were searching for the light...I like the left side but i botched up the right side...still...thought you might like to see it

Re: cedar forest

Ossi, Will have the pic you want in a day or two. Have to get it developed you know.

Juliet, I like your idea. Kind o Kimura'ish. He did this with a group of spruce, and it looked real good. Maybe I can think about this for next repot. The trees still need to mature some to not look so juvenile.

Re: cedar forest

Al, I like this forest! If you get tired of it send it to me
I can see it as it fills out and matures...it will be very nice. The tilt to the outer trees is a good choice for the future. It is good to see what a (my opinion) good forest looks like when its first started. Soooo many people plant young trees in a so to speak finnished look and find them to crowded after they fill out! by the way, what is the size of this group.

I guess this is a fact about single trees also. We sometimes develop a tree looking at it today not as it will be in the future!

Jay

PS 'my 2 cents worth' is a saying that means my opinion...

Re: cedar forest

I like the forest. I always liked those Blue Atlas Cedars. They don't do too well up here in Wisconsin.

I had some 22 years ago when I lived in the Chicago area. D. Hills Nursery had a nice bonsai nusery at the time and used to host the Midwest Bonsai Show. Now it's at the Chicago Botanical Gardens, 3rd week in August.
