Cascades from the Tropics
I just recently got my hands on a digital camera and learned to upload photos, Hurray for me! So, to celebrate my knew learning experience I would like to share a couple of buttonwoods that I have been working on.
Image, 0555 was purchased styled as a cascade that was newly worked from stock so that it could be sold for more money at a convention ... Needless to say I didn't like it the way it was styled so I turned it into an informal upright. That lasted for about two years and now it is back to a cascade, which looks nothing like the original cascade design...so I guess I can claim this tree as mine(?)Image 0557 was basically a collected unstyled mess when I bought it. It stood upright and had two trunks that went in oposite directions and the branches were very leggy. It grew for a year with windswept in mind...too ambitious on my part...I'm not that good (yet)...so I have pursued another cascade with this tree. You can see the old soil line where the lime sulphur is non-existent on the back half of the tree. That part still needs to be carved and lime sulphur applied. Needless to say they are both very far from finished. I hope you tropical lovers like these photos, let me know what you think...even if you think they suck -Ryan

A good beginning in terms of the photos. They'd be helped a great deal if you had a big piece of white paper to reflect some light into the shadows so we can see the interiors of the trees.
See Old Mr. Crow's Guide for more help in digital and other photography. |

With all due respect, Your photos prevent us from seeing the tree, how could you expect anyone to critique what they can not make out? So show us the tree and we will Talk Bonsai... Will |

Yeah-- they are nice. They seem well on there way, what can be added except time and trimming?
Not much to do here, How is cascade pot shopping coming for these? I tend to put cascades in pots sooner than upright trees. The extra growth space in a cascade pot doesn't seem to slow growth as much, you know?

Thanks bonsai nut! I haven't even thought about pots for these two yet. But, if anyone has any suggestions I'm game.
So I guess some one made some sense of the pics...but, I will try to get some more detailed pics in soon . Then as Mr. Heath said, "we will talk bonsai"Till then, Ryan
