Thumbs up Cape Honeysuckle 1975... Big Nebari

Hello everyone, Here is a Cape Honeysuckle I've been working on.

Height from pot rim is 40cm or 1ft 6 inches.

And a close up shot of the nebari...

I'm getting a better backdrop and lighting for the trees tommorow.

Any suggestions on this tree would be appreciated

Happy Growing
Tai

How about turning it in it's pot so that the thicker of the 2 trunks sits closer to the veiwer adding some depth and reducing the slingshot effect of the 2 close to equal size trunks,...that said this is nice material better than anything I've got going right now, I have a lonicera trunk (no leaves or branches yet) about 1 1/4" thick and about 2' tall,...I only hope that I can get mine to ramify as well as you have done with this one. Very nice thanks for sharing.

Taipan,
My hunble, novices 2 cents worth.

My eye has trouble moving past the trunk due to each side of the tree being so equal sided and in the center of the pot, and 1 rock each side as well. I think you should try to create a little more asymmetry/Interest.

Maybe...shorten the right side all the way down to the 1st branch, then pull the 1st branch down to parrellel with the horizon, remove the rocks.

The current pot is not of my taste (but thats just me), myabe repot in a more shallow "austere" oval pot, off center to the right a little.

Regards

Hi Zen! And thanks for the input...You have a point with the slingshot...I've been thinking of rustling up a vice to bring the trunks closer together

Hi Nield, I know just what you mean about the pot...I had the one below destined for that tree but I didn't have the heart to shorten the roots too much on such an old tree...I will however visit my bonsai pot dealer and look for a slightly larger one.

The date "1975" was when the tree was started from seed. They're a very slow growing tree...

Again thank yoy everyone for your input! I'm very excited about all this now
