Boxwood Group

Hello Everyone,

Last weekend I went to Dave Lapeyrousse's monthly study group at Livingart Bonsai. This was my first time there and I didn't bring anything to work on, so I picked up a boxwood to play with. It's a variety called 'Morris Midget' with very small leaves and, for a boxwood, fairly flexible branches. I forgot my camera so there's no before shot, but it was just a bush. I pruned on it for over an hour and then took it home to wire. It's still way too confusing with excess leaves and branching but I'll let it recover and clip n' grow for now. I'll bring it back to next month's meeting for discussion, but I think when it's repotted, the front can be opened up with the outside trees moved farther out to better show all of he trunks. Removing the excess branching will make it more tree-like. It's not the greatest piece of material, but fun anyway. Do you think it was worth the effort?

Regards,

David

Hi David, I think it was very much worth the effort! This has lots of promise. I look forward to seeing it in the future.

Regards,

Chris.

I agree! Very nice group. I love the overall shape of the canopy. This would look cool on a slab.
