Bougie Woogie!

(First let me ask a question: Is there a problem with posting the same message with more than one group? Please let me know and I will have to choose in the future).

Time to Bougie!
It's that time of the year in the tropics...The Bougainvillea are in full bloom.

In anticipation of the question "How do you get them to bloom?"... I'm not sure. Here in Barbados they just bloom at this time of the year. It is said that you have to reduce water to bring about blooming. While the trees in the ground do get less water at this time, and they do bloom superbly, my bonsai get no less water than usual and they too bloom. I believe that the shorter length of day also has something to do with it.

The first two trees no longer have any heartwood in their trunks. They don't seem to mind. Bougie heartwood is very soft and any large cuts will lead to rot. I think that I've managed to stop the rot with 'Teak Oil'. I learnt about this from another enthusiast who recommended it when I asked for help a while ago on the I'net.
If you're reading ...Thanks again.

Here are four examples from my bonsai benches.

A twin trunk. Both trunks 'S' curve the same way. Have not decided if I like that or not.

BEAUTIFUL trees!

Yes post each message at bonsaiTALK once, otherwise duplicate topics get started in different forums and no one knows what's going on.

If you are talking about posting to other websites, you can certainly do whatever you like and they permit.

Regards,

Matt

Art wonderful trees.

Please continue to post here!!!

As Matt said, Post only once on BonsaiTalk but if you want to post to the IBC, why not. Even though there are many who read both boards, there are some who only come to one. Trees like these deserve to be seen by all of us!

Again love the trees

Jay

wow ,
i have 2 huge boganvillia vines in my yard , they have been in flower ever since i moved into this house and they show no sighns of slowing down, i have been taking some nice cuttings from stems around an inch- 2 thick and they seem to have no problems rooting , i even have cuttings that just started to flower the other week, amazing vines, people say chinese elm are hard to kill , mann i challenge them to try killing this thorny monster in my yard/.
