I would post a picture of the table I just built a week or so ago, but I really don't know how to post a picture here yet (I'm new). I used pressure treated deck wood material, and I will stain it a redwood type color. I have one level done so far, and plan to add a second level.

The table frame top is made of 2x6 material and is 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. The legs are 2x4's, that will probably be changed over to 4x4's. The top is made of the spindles usually used for railings on decks, nice 2x2 pressure treated wood. "lifetime" guarantee on the wood to never rot or degrade, I plan to put that to the test. hahaha

i have set up a corner of the work bench in my basement similar to what thomas has. i drill so holes to mount a lazy susan bracket onto the bench, cut and fastened a peice of wood to the top of it and ........ presto, bonsai work area. whatever you decide to do, i highly recommend the lazy susan plate setup, it is extremely useful when styling. good luck.

A little while ago I rescued an old gas lift computer chair off a neighbour who had thrown it out in the rubbish, because it had a torn seat and a broken back. I unscrewed the bracket from under the seat and removed the seat and bolted on a reconstituted sandstone paving stone (400 x 400mm approx 15 x 15 in.). Now I have a large all weather robust turntable that rotates effortlessly and has a gas lift so I can adjust the height as I work. I have had over 60kg on the turntable and it was fine, and it sure beats walking in circles around a large tree!
My work table is a small steel frame desk with a new larger treated timber top. Tree display benches are a simple timber planks on concrete blocks although I am considering adding large square timber posts with a square stone slab on top as pillars for single trees. Oh yeah, I also plan to have remvable shade sails in place by summer as it can get oppressively hot and dry down here. Hope this helps gcraft.

Better watch that turntable carefully it roll right off that table. Dont want to have any prized trees on it if that happens.
