Bonsai Work Areas

I am looking to build me a little work station and would like to see what some of you work from so I can get some ideas. If you would please post a picture of your work stations so I can get some ideas.
Thank You all!

I've been using one of these Rubbermaid carts for about 3 years. Hope one of this link will work for you:

I have seen them on retail at Orchard Supply Hardware, too. I made a plywood turntable that fits right into the recess where the soil grid/repotting tray go.

Regards,

Matt

I have been using them since they came out. Wall-mart and Home Depo carried them at one time. I think that they are the cats meow. Would not be without one.

I don't know why you couldn't make one out of wood if you wanted to. I think the main thing is the height, size and functional areas. Being able to drop in a basin or a screen, or that turntable I mentioned are things it would be hard for me to give up.

Ron, I would have to carbon date mine to get a real timeline. It could be closer to six or eight years. The surface is a bit weather etched, but it seems to be holding up pretty well. The funny thing is, despite the fact it's on wheels it has never traveled more than about 10 feet on them, but it was handy at the time.

Regards,

Matt

Gee, I'm impressed !

I make do with a table in the kitchen, near the cat's litter box. I also have one of those neat turntables on its own stand from Mechanical Contractors. I do use a large tray to catch loose dirt.

AS long as I sweep up, my wife tolerates it.

For really messy jobs, I go outdoors and work on the hood of the barbecue. For a recent trunk chop (from the bottom ), I used a workmate in the driveway (and an electric chainsaw)

Hmmm I remember seeing a post from someone a while back who made a cart on wheels with an umbrella and all to take through their garden. Was it Treebeard maybe?

For me simplicity has always been #1 on my list. I made an exception though when I made my display/growing benches. But for a simple work station that is as simple as it gets with easy storage and portability, I use this easy open easy close Stanley work bench. Notice the simple turntable also, and the little space it takes when folded up. It would be ideal to take to an informal workshop if your club does things like that.

I will sometimes use the above workbench for repotting small bonsai, but for the most part I again take the simple route when doing most of my trees which are too big for the workbench, and that is two saw horses with a plank on top. Since repoting is usually done for a short time of the year, the horses can be stored in a corner out of the way so as not to detract from the appearence of the display area or your yard in general when they aren't needed.
