Bonsai Societies Of Florida 2004 Convention Photos
Here are some photos from the convention. There was both an outside exhibit and an inside one. Rob Kempinski was very brave to do this. As Jim Lewis said on IBC, "Several times I saw kids running around the bases of the stands".

Slash Pine. This is an interesting tree. It is native to Florida. This one appears to be collected.

Now, on to the inside exhibit. There were many more outside, but the photographs did not turn out well.

Bald cypress in the weeping style. Bald cypress do not generally weep, so there is wire on every branch of this tree.

Buttonwood. This is in a non-traditional style. The theme for this convention was bonsai for tomorrow. As you passed through the exhibit, the trees turned from conventional to unconventional. The final tree was one of Jim Smith's which was a root over meteorite (the meteroite was supplied thanks to Rob Kempinksi and his affiliation with NASA). Unfortunaly, I did not take a picture of the root over meteorite tree.

The ficus burt davii had only been in training for 6 months since the original styling. IMO, it was shown a bit early. It would have looked much better at next year's convention.
The stone is a large stone that appears to be a torso.
