I like the tree very much and I like the idea of the rocks. There is a but however; the use of rocks would be more believable if they did not look like they were just sitting on the surface. They should be made to look like they are emerging from the surface. Try burying the bases of the rocks and see what that looks like. JMHO

This is my idea of how I would want it to look. Probably not possible.

Thanks for the suggestions. I can certainly take a hammer to the rocks. You are right, the stones are too big. I will get to work and see what I can do.

I'm with Vance on this one,....the stone as it is kind of works. The relationship of it to the shape of the tree, the negative space is lessened on that side balancing it with the other side where all the foliage is. But it really just needs to be buried at the base.
But yeah other than that, I would have to say a shallow unglazed oval.

Oh yeah BTW great looking tree! Once you do get all the mini-scaping done it'll be a show worthy piece! You should give your son a big nya-nya-nya-nya-boo-boo! LOL J/K don't wanna make him mad.

I am afraid to say that a round pot like this and no stone at all would give a nice elegant hint to this bonsai

Ciao Kyriolexy, welcome to BT. The best bonsai board on the net. Hang around and post some of your trees for us to enjoy.

Harry

Thank you Harry. I started bonsaing one year ago but i choosed the hardest way. I decided not to buy any finished bonsai, except for a serissa foetida and a trident maple, but to collect and shape myself my (future) bonsai. So at the moment I have a lot of books to read (the two Naka's already divored), forum to attend and some raw interesting material in training (fagus sylvativa, pinus nigra or black italian pine, ceratonia siliqua, fraxinus, ligustrum, olea europea, pinus halepensis, quercus suber, quercus robur, quercus ilex, ficus carica. Say good luck to me and all those trees lol
