Carp, this could be porcelain berry? (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata). Porcelain berry is a vine that gets quite large. Mike

I'm sorry to say this guys but I suspect you are looking at a cultivar of fruitius waximus. The berry's do look much like porcelain berry but in the pictures I've found on the web the stems all look dark brown, not blue. Also, there appears to be a mold line on the upper right berry in monsieur carp's photo.

My apologies if I have mistakenly side tracked a serious inquiry but methinks I smell a mackerel.

Blue Quandong

Elaeocarpus grandis

"Blue fig" or Blue Quandong - a common Australian rainforest tree with edible fruits. The leaves turn red providing a striking contrast to the blue fruit...

thanks Matt,
i had a suspicion that they might be some sort of fig,
the ownwer of the house(i'm renting) must have gone ficus mad
about 20 yrs ago, the tree you can see directly underneath the
" blue fig " is a cabbage fig from africa i think.
thanks again.

Well, isn't my face red ..... I honestly thought this was a bit of a prank meant to bring a lighter note to the forum.

I wish to apologise again to Mr. Carp and anyone else who may have taken offense at my comments.

Guess I'll just have to watch my jaded side and not assume everyone is as twidted as I am...
