Blue Collar Bonsai, Or Why There Is No Artistry In Bonsai..

Comparing art to bonsai is absurd. Bonsai is simply craftsmanship and thats all there is to it.

Taking art from the equation leaves us with a multitude of new and exciting challenges. Pot selection becomes very easy. Pot makers will not have to spend countless hours making new and exciting artistic pots for the bonsai. This custom pot only cost 1.29 at walmart, and even came with a cool watering tray that I felt would not be of any use since I have read over the multitude of soil articles lately. I am now using a crunchy loam soil that drains very good on Tuesday, but slows down by Friday.

This stand was left over from making room in the refridgerator, for a turkey that was on sale at the local supermarket. The top was the correct size and the color seemed right. Why spend all that money for custom stands. I can't believe people stress about the correct stand, this looks fine.

I have chosen a cool brownscape for a background. I like animals and this adds pizzaz. The brown tones in the placemats was a cool touch and just so happened that they were not being used since my wife did not want me to slop turkey gravy on them, go figure!

The excellent accent piece seems to tie the whole thing together. I feel this tells the story I am trying like hell to tell. Mr. Hankey. The clamp signifies the constricting nature that these artist chaps keep trying to drum into our heads. Who needs them? Not I!

I'm doing fine on my own.

Al, I first thought that black clamp was some kind of automatic weapon. Maybe it had something to do with the leopard pelt and the fuzzy peanut man that came to me in a dream...

Regards,

Matt

Al,

I see the faint outline in that leopard skin of a middle-aged, long-haired, bearded, hippie type man with three navels who appears to have been crucified. Look about half way up and to the left of the tree. See it? How did you do that?

Gary

I think most of the regulars here would agree that me being speechless is definitely a good thing.

Al, that is absolutely terrible!!! That display is nothing until you add something along the lines of a mudman convention to the top of that container!!

that one got me chuckling

Al has expressed in his own colorful way how it is silly to consider bonsai anything less then art.
