blooming lantana

Here's a lantana that I rescued about two years ago from the clearance table at a local Home Depot. I think I may have paid a dollar for it. It's not much to brag about stylewise, but it is nice to admire when in bloom.

Looks like you have a pair of Lantanae here, Bill.

This reminds me of a large lantana that grew in the backyard of my parents' house years ago. It was always covered with little butterflys in the summer, and we spent many an afternoon chasing them around.

Thanks for the memory!

Regards,

Matt

Nice color on that. I've got some of these that I'm training but aren't very far along. They're in large pots now, trying to thicken up the trunks. Does anyone know how long these will live? I may be wasting my time trying to get hefty trunks if they're gonna die of old age.

lantana

Tony: Here in central California I have seen lantana in landscape with trunks at 2 inches, hard and woody, like rosemary. I would have to go by the shopping center to look, but I think that they may still be there.

Thanks for the info, Rip. I'll keep trudging away at them then. I figure another 5 years and I might have something.

lantana

I have also seen this material with several diffrent colors of flowers. Although the redish orange seems to be the most common. Puts on one great long show when it blooms.

sincerely

Lantana

That's cause it is a weed! A noxious weed here in Australia. Grows everywhere and forms a spindely type of hedge. The flowers are nice though arnt they.

Peter.
