Bird nest spruce
Here's a Bird nest spruce that was wired and styled recently. Normally, we think of Bird nest spruce as dense and mound shaped. This little fella, was forgotten in the nursery for years and suffered because of it. Turns out, this is the kinda stuff we "bonsai nuts" love. I think this will make a great tree with time and proper care. Any suggestions on what type of pot it would look best in?

It's got real bunjin flavor. I see a flat dish type pot. Fairly rustic with bent lip.

What a great looking tree!
I agree and before i read his post, i thought a flat clay tray would look best. When i was more active, I always went straight to the castoffs and discount section of the nurserys. by far the best spot to find deformed trunks and winterkill that has been left to grow on thier own. I have found many a tree that would be selling for 50-80% off the regular price. Sometimes free! |
