Huh?

Thanx for the update Chris. I actually went back and re-read from last years start. Nice progression. A little scary going that lean, huh.

That is one killer find man. Even as much of a neophyte as I am, I still see the potential already, it's gonna be great.

Today was time to remove the last wiring. It had cut in pretty well. I also wired all the branches that had gotten large enough to do so. I apologize for the quality of the photo.

Hi Chris,

If I may ask a question. Can you explain why you are intentionally creating wire scars on the young branches? does this promote faster growth on the braches? If this is the case. can this method be used on other deciduous trees?

lovely piece of stock by the way. scares the life out of me!!!!

Deliberately scarring the branches helps them set. I am only going to use the first inch or so of any of them, and by the time the tree is nearing completion, not a single scar will show.

Hi Chris,

I struggle with my maples at times. I learned some things about wiring from you. I bet your a good teacher.

Peace
Bob

Not to Chris a big head, but yes Robert he is a good teacher. About 4 years ago,Chris led the first workshop I ever attended after "doing" bonsai for about 4 years on my own. Remarkably I still have the tree. It's had a couple of rough spells & needs some work but it's still growing. Chris is patient and more than willing to share what he's learned.

Bill (who did not get paid for this endorsement of Chris!)
