Here are 2 more pics. The apex has been wired and allowed to grow out. After alot of thought, I've pulled the end of the cascading branch down a bit more and directed it more toward the front. I like the change. This is most likely the end of any styling adjustments for the tree this year. Next spring, I'll be carving the deadwood, shortening and refining the branches, and, if I can find an appropriate pot, repotting.

Is it a squamata?

I'm honestly not sure of the variety. I asked at the nursery when it was purchased...the thought was that it may be a prostrata, but that wasn't conclusive. I can tell you that it only grows needles...no scale foliage at all..., the new foliage has a nice blue color, and it seems to be a very vigorous grower.

The tree will be great in a couple of years and the pads will develope nicely. Good job. Did you find it at a nursery?

Hi Dave, nice tree! Could it be a San Jose juniper? Hard to tell from here.

Thanks, Si. Definately not San Jose...there is no adult scale foliage at all. I've never seen a San Jose without at least some adult foliage. Also, the needles don't seem as coarse or prickly as a San Jose.

Nice tree Dav! Good game plan...will be a stonker in a few years. Will be interested in seeing the carving you do to this.

Thanks, Tom. I'm interested in how the carving comes out, too...I've never carved a piece of deadwood this large. For those interested, I've included a close up of the foliage. I'd love anyone in the know to tell me if they can ID the variety. Thanks,

Dave
