I've been there a few times this month already....today as well
. They have some new stock from out West. Worth the drive, I would say. I've just blown my 2008 bonsai budget on a collected lodgepole pine and this pot (or, atleast, that's what my wife thinks ). I just can't stay away!Dave |

Ha ha hah a.. I know what you mean Dav4. I was at NE Bonsai a few days ago and picked up an absolutely incredble 3 foot Blue Atlas Cedar, Literati style, that Hitoshi told me he got from California and had been in training for a long time. I did get an incredible price on the tree. I was thinking of posting a thread on it.
There were a few trees that I had my eye on. I actually had to go back the next day to get a grow pot for the cedar becasue I ran out of money the day before. |

I thought I'd post some pictures of my juniper in the new pot. I included a close up of the carving done so far...definitely a work in progress. The tree is growing well right now...I'll be de-wiring and re-wiring in the next few weeks. More carving, too. I'll take more pics after I apply the lime sulfer to the shari in June.

G'day Dav...
Back in January, you said "...I think the style of the tree falls somewhere between a semi-cascade and a cascade...". For whatever it's worth...My OPINION...my definitions... A Full Cascade Bonsai has it's trunk reach BEYOND the bottom of the pot. A Semi-cascade Bonsai has it's trunk reach BELOW the rim of the pot, but DOES NOT GO BEYOND THE BOTTOM of the pot. Like I said...My OPINION...my definitions. However, I believe that these are widely accepted in th world of bonsai... Nice bonsai...nice pot, Dav. Pat

Thanks for the post, Pat. I agree with your definitions. When I first styled the tree, I wasn't certain how low the cascading branch would fall. As it is today, the tree is definitely a cascade, as I have continued to lower the descending branch well beyond the pot bottom
