is that meant to be a bonsai? well it looks mighty weird with the foliage coming from the bottom like that.

Andy I will do my best not to insult you...as for suggestions I do have one... Send that thing to me up here in San Antonio... This would be a great piece of material to work with...I do look forward to seeing what you do with this wonderful trunk...After seeing some of your other trees, I am shure you will be able to create a very nice tree with this... Judging from the size of the leaves compared to the trunk, this must be rather large...possibly a couple more pics from other sides would help with design suggestions... Regards Behr ![]() |

spoonman,........i was joking
...no insult there.it has a ways to go before i would call it a bonsai. Behr,i was thinking about chopping(actually airlayering)where the red line is drawn and developing as i have drawn the black......i don't know.......i'd really like some feedback on this one. thanks, andy |

Hi Andy,
I think this is terrific material ! Just send it to me if you don't want it any more... altough I doubt it would live for long in my climate.. :-\ I made a virtual for your bougie. I'd layer the top off and grow a new one. Looking at all the new shoots it made this should be possible. regards, René |

Whats the branch structure of the top part like andy? is it possible to work with it or not? Looks like it has got good potential. (I like the look of some of the trees in the back ground as well!)

hey agraham; I really like your bougie, specially the size, taper and movement of the trunk. IMHO if you chop it too low you lose both taper and movement. If it were mine, I would not chop at all but just let the top and midlevel branching develop as indicated in the attached rough sketch.
