Re: Benches

Ah, you mean a "klomp". So you call it "clog". Interesting.... I looked up the word in a dictionary and found that it meant
"a weight attached especially to an animal to hinder motion "or "something that shackles or impedes " and "to (cause to) become blocked or filled so that movement or activity is difficult ". Can you understand my confusion ? Why on earth do you call a wooden shoe a clog ? Nobody here wears them anyway exept for very old people and to please tourists. This corner of the garden used to belong to my wife, and she hung up these things. I can't remove them without her becoming angry so I just leave 'em there. It;s an interesting thought to put a bonsai in a clog... hmmmmm

Re: Benches

in the north of england, some used to wear wooden soled
shoes, clogs, I suppose the modern version would be
scholes sandals,
nice clogsai!
over here people use anything as a planter, old ceramic
kitchen sinks,toilets,baths,even old speedboats.
an old wheelbarrow can prove a major temptation
to a keen gardener.
perhaps we should break away from tradition and raid
the kitchen cuboard for pots?hmmmm... where`s that old coffee pot we never use? cascade flowering quince.hmmm..

Re: Benches

Well, I have 2 things to add here, it seems that nobody has enough space on their benches... I use as bench whatever seems right, I have even used a dead tree's trunk to place my stuff... well, my mom is not glad with that... but, what can I do? my seedlings grow as mad... well that's nice of course...

And then, about using whatever as a pot, I have some mame bonsai wannabes in rocks, they look nice, but I was reading in another post that the pots need to be ceramic, is this true or not?

Another thing, won't the roots pass through the rock? well, that's what I'm about to find out...

well, bye
