Azalea Help...Please!

I found this azalea at a local garden center about 3 months. When I found it it was in real bad shape . Now its comming back and I have really no clue on where to take it from here. It has real nice dead up at the top of it. Here are a few pics of the tree. The first pic is the front that im thinking about useing. Sorry about the little hands, my daughter had to help..hehe. Anyway feel free to tell me what u think.

And here is the trunk.. I was thinking about repotting it. Would it be safe to do this now. I live in zone 9.

That tree has some potential. You probably should wait till Spring. Since it was recovering from Hard times at the nursery and winter is near, even though you don't really have that in Florida. I'm letting my one Azalea hold out until Spring before repotting.

That is great material. I am very envious. Does the top of the tree towards the back seem dead or alive to you? I have a feeling it might be dead. I will try and do a virtual of this tree and give you possible ideas for the next growing season. I wouldn't do anything to it know. Tree has gone through enough stress.

Here is my basic attempt at a virtual. This tree will always be slanted I believe and you would want to work with that. I still have doubts that the top has enough live branches to create the canopy. If not you might want to grow some straight branches from the middle to create your new top.

Thank you David, this was a lucky find... I think i might have to grow some branches up from the middle. I never thought about that TY. The back part of it is pretty much dead, but as u can see I have some new growth on the very top. I like the virt.

Remember that with azalea because they are only really shown in exhibitions when they are flowering alot of the branches would be hidden anyway so no one would know the branch structure that you would go for.
