Autumn has definitely arrived!

I am just about to nip of to Germany for a well earned break. Bad timing though as I am going to miss the BTA show in Sheffield.

I thought I just post a picture of my hornbeam group (taken this morning) in it's Autumn blush.

It always amazes me that the central tree keeps it's green colour for much longer than the other trees in the group. All the trees are cuttings from the same mother tree so the effect can not be genetic. Maybe someone here knows why.

Anyhow - enjoy.

Back in a week or so

Mike

Mike,

Very nice group.Sometimes i envy you guys with 4 real seasons...but in the winter,i'm usually glad i live where i do .

We've had 2 days of below 90 degree highs and 2 nights of below 70 degree lows......yep....autumn has arrived.

Yes-enviable

We are just looking forward to the mole season. Get up when its dark, drive to work in the dark, grey and dark days, drive home in the dark etc.
Goodbye sunshine and bright daylight for the next 6 months.

But hey- there is always BT ( that's BonsaiTalk not British Telecom) to cheer us up.

wishing I was in Texas at the mo

Mike

Here in Canada there are always some maple trees that change color long before others and I think it is due to the health or vigor of the trees. The less vigorous ones change color earlier. In your beautiful group the central tree also seem more vigorus than the border ones. This is just my personnal observations.

Hi Mike,

Could it be that the outer trees give some protection to the middle one? You can see the same effect on woods and forests. Outer trees turn a little before the inner ones.

Nice group. Well done. Good moling!
