Update to this ashe juniper. It is coming along, but a final front still has not been decided, however, I am leaning away from the originally desired from from David's virt. I was able to pull the apex back in line with the trunk, but after doing so, I still was not satisfied with the emerging image.

I worked this tree with my bonsai instructor, wiring all of the branches to the tips. I am now working at pinching the new growth back and trying to get the growth more compact. This angle apears more appealing to me, and for now I am working this as a front. I still have not located or purchased a pot.

The tree is 28", 27" wide, with a 4'' caliper trunk.


For those wondering about Ashe juniper suitabilty, this is another of the famous Vito Megna collected ashe junipers. It was collected in 1990. Once you get past the inital shock, and work the clay gradually away from the root ball it is quite happy in pot culture. I am told though, that it takes several years to work the root mass.
