Another Procumbens

Hello Everyone,

Here's another procumbens for critique. This is a first rough styling and it will get a rest before the little twigs are wired so it's pretty scruffy. The deadwood still has to be refined too. But tell me what you think of it so far.

Regards,

David

You really love your junipers David. The only suggestion I have is that it lacks perception of age. I believe you might need shari along the trunk just to give it more age.

this really looks like one where the trunkbase/nebari/rootage will decide on front - or maybe the front to back movement, which we can't see in 2-D will help drive the decision. Looks like a fun one to have to make.

I like the crown, and I like the base with jins. The part in between is troubling to me. I don't particularly like the bow in the trunk that gives it a question mark shape.

Rather than pulling the trunk down with a guy wire, I think I would have raffiaed the trunk and tried to straighten it out some and went for a more traditional albeit cookie cutter literati.

The crown seem rather literati oriented anyway, and the trunk looks out of place with this crown.

Al...the question mark on this one does not bother me. It has a lot of subtle movement that does not show in 2d. I turned this one around every which way and this was the most pleasing line to me.

DavidN...."You really love your junipers". What makes you say that? :-))

dyewab... These are great fun and educational too!

Here's a rough virt of where it's headed. Thanks for the input.

Best Regards,

David

Hi David thats a great start, i like it very much. the virts above are nice to, personally prefer the one on the left to be the front as i prefer the root mass from that side. Look forward to seeing its development.

Cheers Jonny.

I really like the virtual on the right with the shari. It breaks the curving trunk up nicely and ages the tree. I really like that idea.

Keep those junipers coming.
