Another LARCH Yamadori - Advice/Virtuals?
Hi everyone. Here is a larch I receintly acquired. I apologize for the photo quality but it is a difficult day for pictures. I'd like to hear everyone's ideas for the future of this tree and would love to see a virtual if anyone can do that.
It is about 2-inches wide at the trunk and about 19-inches tall. Zone 4-5 Thanks in advance, wmcorcor |

Unfortunately I don't have first hand knowledge of growing larch. Its a bit too warm in our climate to grow them. However from a design perspective I feel the tree is much too tall for it's trunk thickness. You seem to have good branching and alot of branching as well. This is a nice tree but would love to see a slightly thicker trunk on it.

Thanks David. My plan is definitely to shorten it, actually even more than your virtual but I do like your virtual including the height. I would like a thicker trunk also but so far the larch I've worked with have not thickened up, even in the ground.
If you use the Naka 6:1 height ratio it would be about 4-inches shorter than your virtual but with many branches to choose from I'm sure I can bring it down slowly until I find the proper proportion. I always like to see a few ideas of what others see in the tree before I start the real cutting. Thanks again. I'll try to add beter pictures but it's not the easiest treet to photograph. |
