Another Golden Gate Ficus also coming along nicely

I showed my other Golden Gate (Ficus Microcarpa) awhile back and I thought I'd post this one for open critique and suggestions as well. I apoligize for the poor picture quality.

Nice Pill Man!

Here's some more pics including a different angle and a close up of the apex that is giving me some problems.

It looks like that bit of twisting apex would make a nice shohin if you could layer or do it as a cutting!

Regards,

Matt

Now there's a idea I never thought of...that will solve that twist problem and give me another tree!

I love these Figs! So many names for these though, Golden Gate, Snake bark, Tiger bark, hard to keep up with the common names.

I'm thinking the trunk needs to come in towards the pot a little more and that the apex needs to twist back to the left side. (After removing that sholin of course)

I guess I'd like to know what would you do if this was your ficus in order to get it ready to show?

Probably the most disturbing thing is that it appears that it was fairly recently planted at a new angle \ You can tell because the majority of the secondary branches are growing out at that angle.

It would look much more natural if the secondary branches were wired out a little more horizontally. Then it wouldn't look contrived.

Regards,

Matt

Yes, good eye, this was recently repotted and moved inside for the winter. All the branches need to be moved out as you said towards a more horizontal plane. The apex was also bothering me but you also solved that problem nicely. It will no doubt take awhile to fill back in the top after I spread the branches out, maybe in a couple years I will have something here.

Thanks again,

Will
