Another Chinese Juniper!

I purchased this big juniper stump from Willowbog bonsai on a visit to see MArco Invernizzi in May.

I had my eye on the tree about a year ago but wasn't sure if a bonsai could be made out of it or not!?

Here is the old front....

Here is the old back, excuse the poor photo! The base is far nicer this side, but the foliage comes off a straight thick trunk.

Here it was yesterday, half way through after forming the first branch and front branch to partially cover the straight trunk...

By the evening I had just about finished, just some fine wiring to do in the crown.

ANy comments/critisisms welcome. Or thoughts on deadwood reduction or pots would be great.

Thanx for reading, regards,

marKi

Good job on the wiring Mark!

The dead wood all looks good to me. If you're itching to get out the carving tools, then perhaps the long tall jin that curves to the left could be shortened a little

Regards,

TB

Charles: I'm glad you like it!

Treebeard: Hi! Quite ironic, the tree was only wired up to 4mm as I'd run out of 5mm. So I used a lot guy wires to pull branches all over the place. Its a technique I've always used, but since seeing the frequency Marco uses the technique, I've started to use it more. The tree should look better for it too having less heavy wire on it. You're right, the long jin will be shortened, the right jin which used to be a 6ft trunk will also be hollowed.

Jonny: Thanks for your kind words. Yup thats me! .....sshhhhh... keep it quiet

Best regards,

mark
