strange, I can see all of them within a very short time.
I do have rather large pictures in the detailed section. They will take a few seconds to load. But then they give you better quality than we are used here on this board.

best regards

Hi Walter,

It's coming along, and loading faster, too. For some reason, on my first revisit today I had broken images, too. But when I returned a minute or two later, they were fine.

I think this 1123 is too wide, though:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#CCCCCC" width="1123">

Screens of 1200 pixel width are becoming more common, but if you leave room for sliders and AOL like frames, it becomes too wide even at that width. Why don't you make it "100%" ?

A representative picture from each of your categories (conifers, etc) would be good, linked to that directory.

Regards,

Matt

Walter,

The gallery is much much better now, but the first page is still too wide. Also try to add a title to your first page. Now it says "untitled document". You can easily add one with the <title> tag. Something like this :
<title>Webpages of Walter Pall</title>
I saw that this tag is allready present in the HTML code of your page. You just have to insert the title.
The title is displayed in the topmost bar of your browser when the site is visited. Also if people bookmark your site, this title is used as the name in the favorites list.
I'm also having trouble with the pictures on the gallery page. They are not loading. I think the problem is in the html code. On your home page there is a link to the logtree picture like this :
<img src="logobaum.gif" width="92" height="148">
This works.
The link on your gallery to the logotree is like this :
<img src="file:///D|/Eigene%20Dateien/HOMEPAGE/Homepage%20neu/logobaum.gif" width="78" height="130">
This one doesn't work.
That's probably because the link points to a file on your local harddrive instead of a file on the webserver. You can probably see it yourself because the file is on the local drive of the computer where you look at the webpage.
Then again, I might be wrong......

regards, René

Thanks everybody for your suggestions.
Now most of it should be included. I have added more than 200 !! pictures to my gallery now and enhanced the service part. In addition all the main images are tremendously improved in image quality.

Further suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks, Walter.

I am glad to have bookmarked your site.

A question. I noted your spruce, described in German as Fichte.

Some years ago, before I reawakened my interest in bonsai, I stayed at a hotel in the Fichtelgebirge (Bischofsgruen). At the time, it was my understanding (NOT from a botanist) that the forest trees there were firs. Is this correct? (My German is most basic.)

I envy you being in Bavaria. It's beautiful country, and the music there is great.
