360 VIEW: Tree Critique (tree no. 4)

This Japanese Quince is styled with two trunks. It is rather average in form and is styled in a classic pine tree shape. The tree is 23 inches tall and has a 1.25 inch primary trunk and a 1 inch secondary trunk.

It is about 12 years old and has been in training for 6 years. Please do not critique the pot, I stole the proper pot for the pyracantha and will repot this in the spring in the more appropriate pot.

G'day BonsaiAl,

Your Japanese Quince looks like a Chinese - Pseudocydonia sinsensis to me, pity your pic is a slight blurry. They originate from China and Korea.

Regards....Nigel

I believe that the side views hare are obvious sides. Rather flat and uninteresting, and flawed as far as branches go. How is this a 360 suggestion?

Very nice quince, though. I agree that it's a Chinese Quince. But then, I just never heard of a Japanese Quince...anyway, my quinces aren't nearly this nice. I have three I'm arm wrestling with.

That comes as a surprise to me Michelle, as there are quite a few Japanese quinces, and some quite rare [depending on the country], they're usually described as Chaenomeles [this and that].

As to the tree being two-dimensional, sadly the pic is just not clear enough for me to criticise.
