Re: 3 Tree Shohin Hinoki Planting
No, I didn't posted a thing because I hadn't see them.. well, I believe they're nice, but, you could try to add some more landscaping, you know place like mountains, more rocks, and your planting will rock

Re: 3 Tree Shohin Hinoki Planting
Don't get this wrong, but it looks boring. The biggest tree in the exact middle, the smaller trees are almost the same height and with quite similar distance from the biggest tree.
Try to make some irregularity to the picture and it'll be a lot better. Zeb

Re: 3 Tree Shohin Hinoki Planting
Hey guys, I know the planting looks a little boring and nothing appeals to your eye. I won this planting at a bonsai show,it was a raffle prize. This spring I will probally pot them seperate and have shohin cypress.

Watch that one on the right. It isn't looking too good, and that may indicate a watering or soil problem.

Re: 3 Tree Shohin Hinoki Planting
Hi Adam. I would guess nobody said much because they didn't quite know what to say. Like, Zeb, don't take me wrong (hey, we're getting to know each other pretty well on bonsai chat!) but I think it is because it is pretty boring. I really don't see anything to do with it as it is. If it were mine, I would just let it grow for awhile. Then if I wanted to keep the trees together, I would plant all three to one side of the pot with some rocks and maybe a little gravel or sand water on the right...sort of a mini penjing. I've made several like that and like them because they are interesting to look at. They wouldn't win any awards, and they aren't great bonsai, but I think they look great.
