Yep that's right, but that was just a suggestion, well at any rate that's what I would do with it.

Larix are very flexible, so take your time you can go every whichway, but once you've made your final decision, it's usually just that, final.

I find the first larch to be the most promising. The third seems rather boring to me. I work with lots of larch, and the more I work with them the more I realize we must move away from the featureless beanpoles. Anyhow, they are all nice and your website is just great.

Hey Guys, thanks for the good words about the website! I am in the process of updating it with new trees, tons of them!!

As for these larch, I will have to get new pictures to post. They have all come a long ways since these pictures were taken. Believe it or not the only one I will keep is the upright one and sale the other 2 to local bonsai folks as they come through the yard.....

Updates coming this evening!

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason, I just found your website through this thread. Your website is very good and your collected and field grown materials are spectacular! I have to make a trip up to Oregon to see your trees one of these days. Can't wait to see what you did with the 3 larches. I kinda like DavidN's idea of a forest for these 3 trees together.

Ok, as requested here are updates to these 3 larch. Nothing special and I have only done intital styling on 2 of them. I think the upright one is one that I may keep and the other 2 will go bye bye....

Anyways, here they are..... this spring when I have more time I will post a few more much better larch that I just finished styling.....

The first one got the main braches wired last year. Now it needs to be rewired and all small branches wired to.

The 2nd tree got a big chop.... now I will either put it on the fire or sale it cheap to someone starting out in bonsai to learn on.

The 3rd one is much nicer in person. I will pot this one this year and post a better picture of it potted and budding. It's not a bad little larch.

Oh, Si, you are more than welcome to come up for a visit.... you won't be let down I promise!!!

Sorry for the pictures, I am learning a new camera and still haven't figured things out to well....

Cool

If only I had a car I would drive down from seattle to visit you. I think that all the trees have been improved since the last pictures. From what i can see here i would sell numbers two and three, and keep the first. I like its big sweeping motion. in the long run I think this could easily be nicer than all the others. I cant wait till u put up the pics of you large japanese maples!. and whatever else you have up your sleve.

with the excitment of sping getting closer,

3 is limited with its options. maybe a good candidate for a creative carving fest.

Hi Arnie,

Thanks for the drawing.... and not a bad idea really..... Another thought for this was to maybe have it part of a forest on a slab.... but then again I like your drawing.

Thanks for taking the time to do that, I appreciate it. I will have to think about it and maybe make that decision next year as for now I want to get it into a pot.

Hmmm....the wheels are turning....

Please note that all 3 of these trees are not that great of material. The first 2 I rescued from the burn pile as a result of clearing the field of not so great material and the 3rd one was just laying around in a pile of soil in the middle of summer so I potted it up and started to play with it...... Good learning material and if something good comes out of it then great if not then that is fine too

Jason

Hi Jason, nice reduction on these larches. Looking at them now, I see that they are not good together for a forest. They don't harmonize well with each other. I don't think you would have any problem selling them. I will go through your area this Spring on my way to and from Vancouver. Hope to see you then.

Hi Arnie, great design! It looks a bit familiar somehow. Is it based on your real tree? Very nice tree if it is. I kinda like this sketch for Jason's second tree, which you could reduce down to the first big right branch there. Do these larches look well as a weeping style bonsai?
