20 second ficus in a coral rock- 8 months later

Hello everyone, I found this fig growing out of a coconut tree 8 months ago and at the bottom of the tree was the piece of coral with a hole in it...

I put the two together and this is what it looks like now...Before and after shots...

I defoliated the tree a few days ago and will rewire and trim the tree into shape as our weather cools off a little...

Taipan:

I hope you don't mind I undid your hotlinks, since the oversized pictures make the bonsaitalk forum get all funky to navigate.

I also hope you don't mind that, deep inside of me, I resent you for your growing season. 8 months? I couldn't get a ficus to do that in 4 years!!!

Taipan,

That is a lot of growth in 8 months. Tree is sure healthy in this setup, did you do something special as far as fertilizing / watering / misting or something else?

Hi Pootsie lol Thanks for clearing up the funky pics lol
We get great weather that allows us to grow plants very quickly. 1 year in our area is equal to 3-4 years of growth elsewhere...and the figs grow the fastest of all...

Hi Rey, And thanks man! I just let mother nature take her course with this little lady...but I did put her on a nasty fert regime...

Ficus love fertilizer and water...

She gets an above average dose of ozmocote(can't find nutricote anymore)
A normal 6 month feeding of ozmocote gets used up in 3-4 weeks here because we get around 5 metres of rainfall every year.

I also supplement with Searles Fish and Kelp every Friday...Fert Friday I call it...The trees absolutely adore the stuff showing fantastic growth within a few days of application...I've tried other products like Seasol, Charlie Carp and general fish ferts and none come close to "Searles Fish and Kelp".
Try and locate a product at the nursery that has both fish and kelp. Fish for foliage and kelp for a happy rhizosphere.

And because I grow Adeniums I use Miracle grow and the figs love it as well.

I also play loud rock music such as AC/DC in the garden so that would definitely help in rapid growth.

Tai
