2 Mountain Pines - 50€ Each.

Last week in a garden center I run against these two mountain pines. They are both selling for 50€ (59$). The trunk diameter is about 4-5 cms at the base. I'm thinking on bringing nş1 home but I'm afraid pines are not that easy to train and style.

How much do you usually pay for this at the place you live?

Duartix, do you know whether these are also called Scots or Scotch Pine? I don't have the scientific name in front of me, but is that available to you? To me, they are nice looking starters, but I'd want to be sure of the species before committing.

They could very well be intereting, but, we can't see two of the most important things to start with - the trunk base and the root spread. There appear to be enough brances, and relatively low, so maybe everything else - trunk taper, movement and branching can be created, but trunk base and roots are what a good bonsai must be born with. They don't grow later - with very few exceptions.
