Yamadori, Out Of Season?
Hey all. I think im in zone 8, long island NY. Highs are about 80 here now. I know most collecting happens right as spring arrives, but Im finally noticing some great azalea's growing around my house. They were originally planted by our home's previous owners, so they are atleast 11 years old and likely much older. One in particular has a great trunk and seems to be MADE for a slant style root over rock . I know you should collect azalea right after bloom fall, but that was several weeks ago back towards the end of may. Would it be safe to collect it anyway? It hasn't been touched since its original planting. Once I find my digi cam, i'll take pics, but If I did transplant it now should I retain as much rootage as possible or is it ok to do some pruning? Thanks alot!

Roy,
..next year they will still be there. Feed them now get them vigorous and after bloom next spring/summer collect. It will ensure a better survival rate.. Will help with one of the important aspects of the art.. patience.
