World's Oldest Tree Cutting Collected For Cloning
"LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AP) -- A nonprofit group has snipped some cuttings to clone what is believed to be the world's oldest tree, a bristlecone pine they say has grown for 4,767 years on a wind-swept mountain in eastern California."

Interesting story. I am curious about how accurate a core sample is compared to a full count of the rings. Has any one tried this that you know of?

I'm curious to know if any bonsai enthusiasts have beaten them to the punch on the replication of those particular trees (through cuttings). Or do we have to start non-for-profits to obtain some like that
