World Bonsai Contest '04 winning list

Learning the mechanics of bonsai is a matter of rote. Over and over again the processes are practiced until the hands and eyes know the moves. Learning the art of bonsai may be more like water wearing away a stone, or climbing a mountain where the peak is always shrouded in fog and just out of reach. Persist, and someday you may see the peak in sunshine. You may pick up the stone and it's a thing of beauty. MP@BBB Studio Last edited by TreeBay : 17-Dec-2004 at 10:46 PM. Reason: shorten the link |

Congratulations Mr. Mike...It appears this is the top 100 list...I see several names I recognize as frequent posters from this forum including yourself, H B Smith, and Thomas J, and several from the IBC forum...
Congratz are due to all, and I wish you the best in the top 3... Regards Behr ![]() |

Thanks for your kind word, guys. I do feel very honored.
Harry Hirao collected this tree about 12 years ago, and donated it to the GSBF 2000 convention raffle. I very much want him to see where it is now, and tell him how much I appreciate his very generous donation. Mike

Mp,
Impressive most impressive, Good job. Who won first place, is it a secret? A suprising variety of countries displayed and tree species used.

Mike,
Photos of trees that made the top 100 in the World Contest were at the Taikan-ten show. I was suprised to see many online members with photos of their trees at the show.

Jeff,
The only thing I've seen regarding the entries to the contest was posted on the IBC forum by Bill Valavanis. Kind of an off angled picture of the entries. http://internetbonsaiclub.org/simpl...d,1189/catid,7/ Maybe somebody else knows a better place to see them. Skip |
