Well I guess I get a little upset since it's NOT the truth in our corner of the world.

Well I just have one thing to say. I am glad I don't have to sell cars for a living.

Hmmm, Will ( and Carl also I guess) , I don't believe I said anything in any of my posts that would cause people to think I disagree with that?
but, you knew that!

"So, Dale, don't come buy a Honda from me unless you have done your homework first. Don't offer me $1000 below factory invoice (of which there is only ONE), don't call me unethical to my face unless you want to be shown the door, and please don't show up with a chip on your shoulder. It only makes your experience and mine less enjoyable. It doesn't have to be so hard."

Bonsaikc,
Pretty sure I won't be driving to KC to buy a Honda, but, I said nothing about expecting a $1,000 discount when I walked through the door. No one read that in my comments , nor did I say anything that would cause anyone to construe that I expected that. I DID make negative comments, however, to the common modern day practice of car dealers to try to rip off customers for 10-15% , OR MORE, OVER MSRP on new/popular models.
BTW, the shoulder "chip" is never evident until I've heard the 5th lie in 10 minutes!! I suppose it's the same with most shoppers.

but, you guys certainly don't think I'm alone in my opinion of used car salesmen...do ya?? c'mon. EVERYONE has a story of being lied to and/or ripped off by one. I have had ONE smooth new car dealing in 38 years of buying cars ( like you describe yours are) and that was when I got my wifes 2003 PT Turbo Dream Cruiser with an employee A discount and rebate at a nice Chrysler dealer in West Virginia , who by the way, was charging $5,000 over msrp on new Crossfires!

Ron,
Me either. I couldn't imagine wanting to.
but, how about them "used bonsai" prices
How can we calculate working on them for 10 years?
and,
let's think about this......

REBATES!

Dale

I actually love selling Hondas for a living. I have a product that I never have to worry about, I surprise my customers with a great car buying experience, and last month I made $6000 plus benefits!

About the "Additional Dealer Markup." When I was selling Mazdas years ago, the Miata was brand new. We were selling them for $1500 over sticker to people who paid that and then made twice that amount of profit by turning them around again. Of course the bubble didn't last long, but who exactly got ripped off? The person who was willing to pay whatever it took to get the first one? Or the guy who turned a profit?

Anything in this world is only worth what the highest bidder will pay for it. It's called capitalism, and it's the only truly moral economic system and system of government. It's my choice to sell a high quality product and place more emphasis on making the transactions fun and easy. I could just as well have chosen to sell an inferior product and make it my goal to maximize profit on every deal, even if it made enemies. But it's in my best interest to do it my way. Why? I sell extra cars in the bargain. People come back to me again and again. I don't want to sell them a car, I want to make them a lifelong customer, so I can relax a little and enjoy life more in just a few years.

I never give rebates. I set a fair price in the beginning and stick to that.

Not quite sure how that was meant....
but,

I was thinking of giving a $3,000 rebate with each pot or tree sold.....

either that , or telling folks they need to pay me $15 over the price I put on the pot for "market correction" or "demand shortage"....
I can't decide.

Dale

P.S. Got the message from Jeff!

Nah, I leave those sort of sales tactics to the car salesman. )
Come to think of it I don't take trade ins either.
Besides who needs to make money. All us bonsai dealers are rich and that stuff just clutters up the place anyway.
