That's what I was thinking.The branch may be dead,or dying.You might try breaking it off.and jinning.Man. That is nasty! How long did you leave that wire on anyway?

Gday BNW and welcome to bonsaiTALK!

I can assure you that the branch is in great health and growing like mad. (Bear in mind that the photo is a macro shot of the scar in question - it is only 6mm (~¼") wide, and does not encircle the entire branch.) The wire has only been in place since about mid-September.
