i have heard so much as to witch type of wire to use.

I stand and stare a lot
|
I use copper wire for anything that requires strong wiring. The holding power of annealed copper wire is much better than aluminium.
I use brown aluminium wire for most other wiring tasks. Mike

I have to agree with the rest of the posters, copper for conifers and pines - aluminum for my deciduous. Lesley

I use annealed copper wire for everything. it just holds better, i can buy it cheap and anneal it myself and can choose from #18-#6 depending on the appliction. Only #14-#6 needs be annealed. I've been using it for 30 years and it hasn't let me down. It just holds.
The only thing I use aluminum for is tying the tree in the pot.
