So who is coming to visit me here in San Antonio for the American Bonsai Society Learning Seminars?
Just a "heads up", the cut off date for discounted registration and hotel rooms is May the 19th. It's gonna be a good time. http://absbonsai.org/seminars/ABS2008/main2008.html

Sadly, work has me out of state during the convention. I have always done very well as a vendor at the Texas and ABS shows. It should be a good convention with a lot of good folks here.
Have a good time. John

I'll be there Jay. I signed up for it last July, actually. I have all four classes with Guy. Didn't get a room yet, so thanks for the heads up. I googled the hotel and I don't believe it is actually on the river walk, but several blocks north on the San Antoino river. Am excited about it as it is my first seminar. Larry

I will be there w/ pots, carving tools and some trees.
I certainly hope there is a good registration as it will be very expensive to do because of the distance and all the 'costs'. I am very nervous what with our gas going up about 5 cents per day. I hope Texans are 'buyers' ! I've never been to San Antonio ( or southern Texas) so I've let the 'back out' date slip by. Wife is looking forward to some vacation. Dale

Dale,
My bet is you will do very well. Quality sells with the LSBF crowd. Harry, Too many bad memories? Must be really tough to root for the Hokies. I mean, errrr, Okies, errr Moonies, errrr, Sooners. Good thing that Fnnak roots for the jaybirds. Cheers, John

San Antonio is a wonderful place to visit! The hotel is on the Riverwalk, which is both beautiful and convenient. I know that some people have fussed about the cost of the rooms, but these are the same prices my family paid 20 years ago for a room in the same location.
I am excited about the beautiful trees that will be on exhibit. As I have wandered from garden to garden I have been astonished by how many very large trees we have in the area. I think this has to do with the collected nature of most of our trees. There will be some vendors attending that I am not familiar with but have heard very good things about. I think there will be at least two suiseki vendors. This is going to be very exciting! Cheers, Jim |

I'm going. Looking forward to the convention, the trees, the classes, and the vendors.
In case anyone's wondering - there's a UPS store about a mile from the hotel. For the purposes of mailing pots or trees back home if they won't fit "in the overhead bin or under the seatback in front of you". ![]()
