White Pine cuttings

I recently got a white pine that is need of a major triming. I will be removing approx.
12 to 18" of the top. What is the best way to repot the cuttings?

Unless you can graft them, they should go in the trash.

I don't want to give the impression that I know a lot about this, because I don't. But from what I understand, many pine cuttings are virtually impossible to root. The remainder fall into the 'very difficult' category. And this is for professional nurserymen, not hobbyists. I'm not sure exactly what you meant, but you should know that 12-18" off the top of the tree is not considered 'cuttings' either.
Take care,

I tried once. I started out with a couple dozen cuttings (buds plus a bit). I was down to a few survivors within 3 months. Those hung on another few weeks but didn't last the summer.

I think to pull this off you do need bottom heat and a cloning environment (rooting hormone with antifungal treatment continuously sprayed on the leaves). But Master Saichi Suzuki was able to clone Zuisho by cuttings on the growing bench, so there you go.

There are cloning machines available

Even so, I don't think you'd get "roots in 10 days" from most conifers, though.

Regards,

Matt
